Nine weeks this week

It is now the beginning of December, and I am almost 10 weeks pregnant. That means I'm nearing the end of the first trimester, which hopefully means the end of the relentless nausea, tiredness, irritability, and vomiting, and the beginning of energy, a glowing appearance, and food tasting non-nasty again! I've been feasting on this:
and then spending my evenings getting close to my new friend:
In the past few weeks, I've had one ultrasound at six weeks where the heartbeat was visible, and I've heard the heartbeat twice (at work, with that handy venous doppler!). In the next few weeks, we'll be sharing the news with those who don't know yet. Also, my first appointment with the midwives is coming up in about ten days, and I'm looking forward to it tremendously.

Now I'm off to Whole Foods to find some nitrite-free deli meats for a giant sandwich, which appeals to me uncontrollably right now! Here's a picture of our creature this week:
