Goodbye, dreaded first trimester, hello delightful second trimester!

First trimester is over, nausea has more or less subsided, and I haven't vomited in over two weeks now (although I did feel really close to it today in the car on the way home from work, but that was most likely due to over-consumption of cheese from a very nice gift basket from a patient). I've got a bit more energy now, and things are looking and feeling good.

I'm fourteen weeks this week.

Got a baby name book from the library, compiling a top secret list of favourites. Baby-naming is such fun! Miriam insists that the baby's name will be "Milkie" (named in loving memory to breastfeeding, which she always called "milkies"), and I hope she forgets this by the time the baby comes, but so far she's pretty insistent. Maybe we'll have to use it as a middle name...?

In craftier news, I'm sewing a ring sling! I've never made one before, though I did make (and used all the time) a no-sew wrap before Miriam was born, and one of my favourite pictures from her infant-hood is with her in the wrap. I'll make another wrap this time too, but need a sling to add to the collection of baby carriers. In addition to the pouch, the mei tai, and the Ergo, we'll be all set! Here's the picture I'm talking about:

Here's the ring sling I borrowed and used for a few weeks when Miriam was a baby. I'm modeling the one I'm sewing on this one, which was fabulous. I'm making a pocket on it too, but have yet to find such groovy fabric (I'm making two of them, the first one is a prototype with some dorky fabric)

Here's a more recent, and random, picture from Xmas, of Miriam practicing her nursing skills on mama.
